1 Social Butterfly 1

Ever have one of those days when the routine makes you wonder if there’s something more waiting for you? I’ve been there too. Years ago, I was standing on a dock in the pouring rain, loading trailers with cold hands and tired eyes, feeling like my life was stuck in place.

Back then, I couldn’t have imagined I’d eventually be hauling freight up and down the western region, finding, receiving, and creating butterfly art that carried messages of hope, or building a blog dedicated to personal growth.

But every mile—from that dock to the open road—taught me something important: confidence isn’t something you magically wake up with. It’s something you build, one tough shift and one brave choice at a time.

Here’s how I grew through those challenges—and how you can discover your own wings, no matter where you’re starting.

Finding Strength on the Road

When I made the jump from local driving to long‑haul trucking, I thought I already knew the rhythm of the road. After all, I’d spent years loading trailers and weaving through city streets. How different could it be?

Turned out, very different.

My first 600‑mile run felt like stepping into a new world—long stretches of highway, an engine humming under the silence, and a whole lot of time to sit with my own thoughts. One night, around 2 a.m., I pulled into a rest stop and wondered if I’d made a mistake. The weight of everything hit me at once.

Then, during a long stretch of road one afternoon, a butterfly floated across my windshield. It was a tiny moment, but it stayed with me. From then on, every drop and hook, every mile away from home, quietly strengthened me.

That’s the thing about growth—it rarely arrives with fanfare. It shows up in the small reminders, the steady progress, the moments that push us forward when we’re not sure we can keep going.

What helps you through hard days? A song? A sketch? A few deep breaths? Share it below or on X using #EmbraceYourWings—let’s encourage one another.

Finding Hope Through Writing

When I first started this blog, I wasn’t sure I’d inspire anyone; honestly, I was just hoping to. Growing up, I didn’t have many people telling me I could be more than a dock worker or a trucker. My days were long, my hands were always covered in dock dirt, and my dreams felt bigger than the life I knew.

But on those long hauls, with only the hum of the rig beside me, I began sketching butterflies with little reminders like “Keep going—you’ve got wings.” It was my way of lifting myself up when doubt crept in.

Starting 1socialbutterfly was a leap of faith. I put my struggles, hopes, and messy growth out there, unsure if anyone would relate. Then one day, a fellow trucker messaged me saying a post helped them push through a tough shift. That changed everything.

It became bigger than me—it became about connection, encouragement, and hope.

If you’ve been thinking about sharing your story, even in a small way, I hope you do. You never know who needs to hear it.

Keep Growing—Your Wings Are on the Way

Looking back, every challenging moment shaped who I am today.

  • The long days on the dock taught me resilience
  • The endless highways taught me endurance.
  • And pouring my heart into this blog showed me the power of hope and creativity.

Growth isn’t about being fearless. It’s about moving forward even when you’re unsure—one mile, one step, one small change at a time.

You’ve got that same strength within you. Whatever transition you’re facing—a new direction, a big dream, or simply a tough day—keep going. Your wings are forming, even if you don’t feel them yet.
